Hello to all teams participating in the 2010 Armed Forces Day Tournament hosted by AYSO Region 15.
Thank you in advance for participating in one of the most highly anticipated tournaments for the 2010 season. There are 148 teams representing their Regions and 117 have supplied referee teams. The referee schedule is complete and can be found at the bottom of this page.
This tournament has a different format from most tournaments in Area 1F. There will be pool play games on both Saturday and Sunday, so referee teams could have games to officiate on both days. Some teams have been assigned two games to officiate, while other teams have been assigned three games. You must also check the stand-by lists - that will be at the Referee Check In table - which will be posted by time and team numbers. Most teams will have a stand-by game to check in for in order to fulfill their obligation for their team refund. Some teams are strictly on stand-by due to lack of qualified referees for the division they represent as stated on their referee application. There are also teams that are schedule to officiate the consolation and final games.
The Armed Forces Tournament was founded to remember the men and women who have honored us with their bravery in protecting which we all hold dearest, our right to freedom and the American way. In honor and in memory of all the individuals that have served in the Armed Forces, there will be a moment of silence for 10 seconds before the start of each game. As referees, I am asking for you to assist with this moment by gathering your referee team in the center circle before the start of the each game. The center referee will blow the whistle three times and then the moment of silence will occur. Please, coaches and referees, notify your players, parents, and spectators of this event.
The games need to be kept on time. There is no coin flip. The home team will be on either the north or east side and first kickoff. The clock runs during pool play games and is not stopped for any reason, period. A total of a 5 minute half please, from whistle to whistle. Please if all possible, check teams in prior to the scheduled game time. Try to not wait for the current game to end before checking in the teams. If you are scheduled to play or officiate right before or after your own game, please remind us and we will assist in checking in the teams. Keep your pre games instructions down to a bare minimum and the instructions to the players so that the start of the games can be kept on time.
Again, thank you in advance for your participation during our tournament.
See you on the pitch.
Kindest regards to all.
